Message From The Principal

Punchbowl Primary School has approximately 350 students enrolled from Kindergarten to Grade 6. We enjoy beautiful surroundings within a natural bush setting, overlooking the nearby hills and mountains.

Punchbowl Primary School prides itself on the quality of education we offer. We strive hard to provide a teaching and learning environment that is personalised and focused on developing confidence and leadership skills.

We have very high expectations of our students in both work and play. These expectations are reflected in our high academic results and excellent student behaviour throughout our entire school. Our school motto of 'Dream, Believe, Succeed' is strongly evident in how we encourage our students to be creative, goal-driven, committed, innovative and successful in all pursuits!

Our classrooms have flexible spaces and easy access to the outdoors. Each one is fitted with an interactive screens and ICT plays a central role in the teaching and learning process. We place a strong emphasis on inquiry based learning, learning through play and design thinking. We provide many opportunities for students to work with digital technologies such as Bee Bots, Drones and Spheros using coding and creativity to explore and inquire. Children are designing and creating applications to solve real world problems and working together in teams to explore a variety of possibilities.

Every year we participate most successfully in the northern Maths Relay event. We also experience a high degree of success in the Grammar Challenge weekend (an extension program for gifted and talented students), the Maths Olympiad program and also the Launceston Competitions. Explicit teaching of thinking skills enables our students to effectively and creatively problem-solve in all learning areas. Punchbowl Primary enjoys an excellent reputation and our commitment to ensuring that this continues to thrive is unwavering.

Our respectful school policy reflects the mantra “Be the Best Me I Can Be “. We encourage all our students to try to be the best they can be in the classroom, outside and in the community. We believe that building quality relationships among all members of our school community leads to better outcomes for all. We aim to develop resilient, self-directed learners who have the knowledge, skills and attitude to be their best.

Play times at Punchbowl Primary School are enjoyable times where children can engage in sporting activities and ball games on the oval, basketball court or relaxing in the newly developed sandpit and gross motor play equipment. At lunch times we offer students opportunities to be involved in activities such as Lego, chess/board game, dance and craft. These activities provide children with the opportunity to explore their creative side. Alongside this we offer “Milo Reading” before school two days a week where our Grade 6 students give up their time to listen to our younger children read before the school day commences.
